After spending summers as a teen constructing vacuum cleaners and watching the frustrations of his father working in their basement, Jake Dyson has been exposed to the ups and downs of inventing for most of his life. As he follows a similar path of his father, Sir James, the 41-year-old is quick to point out his work on an innovative new way of lighting spaces is thouroughly his own. Jake opened his design studio in 2004 in a Victorian building once used for electrical and mechanical engineering in London, where he produced a halogen at first. He then focused on LED light, and their longevity. His goal was to produce an LED that would last for life. Jake learned that LED life and quality was directly related to heat, and with that knowledge, his innovative heat pipe technology was born. His heat pipe technology reduces the amount of heat around the diodes, dramatically increasing the brightness and life of the diode while also retaining the intended color rendering for an impressive 37+ years. Today, Jake Dyson Products employs a stafft of 20 in London and around the world, and has direct control over their process from concept, testing, manufacturing to supplying customers and retailers.
