Roberto Paoli was born in Ancona (Italy). He graduated in Architecture at the University of Florence in 1994. He started with the small-scale design by specializing himself in glass bending and plastic injection molding techniques. From this experience he begins to collaborate with brands such as Fiamitalia and Fellowes.
Roberto Paoli gains technical as well as methodological knowledge in this way, which helped him to shape his own idea of design: he thinks that technology and functionality have to merge with the shape of objects, which is influenced by the materials.
In 2002 he moved to Milan, the city of design. He set up a studio and dealt with both product and architecture, by developing projects for houses, shops and showrooms, as well as exhibitions and stands. Roberto Paoli is also creator and curator of exhibitions and design culture events. In recent years several projects by Roberto Paoli for major Italian brands have aroused great interest in the international media.
In 2010 Freskogel, a set of notebook feet in Technogel® he designed for Tucano was inserted in the ADI DESIGN INDEX 2009 as a candidate for the Compasso d’Oro Award. In 2009, 2010 and 2011 he won three times the GOOD DESIGN AWARD. On www.robertopaoli.com you can find a selection of projects of the studio.
