Annet Van Egmond was born in Leiden, The Netherlands in 1964. Annet began her studies of autonomous sculptural design at Utrecht School of Arts, the same school as William, just one year later. She started working with William in her parent's atelier in 1989, graduated from Utrecht School of Arts, and started her own company, Van Egmond Producties, that very same year.
In short, both of these talented artists have been product designers for over 24 years now. Each has an essential set of skills that gives Brand Van Egmond its distinguished, world class look and functionality. All pieces they create and design are made by hand, giving each one a unique aesthetic. When the company was first founded, they released their first light sculpture called “Chandelier”. It instantly became incredibly popular, and was considered an icon. The inspiration they receive is continually flowing. They release a new and glamorous collection in every year in Milan, Italy.
With so many collection having been established, it's no wonder the track record for Brand Von Egmond is filled with dazzling experiences. One such collection, known as “Hollywood” was used to supplement the lighting for the evening at the 76th annual Academy Award presentation in the USA. In 2006, the “Flower Power” design was selected by Patricia Urquiola for the Design Yearbook of 2007. And in 2008, the Dutch government chose chandeliers from the “Night Watch” collection to be the decor in the VIP Lounge of the Dutch pavilion at the World Expo 2008 in Zaragoza.
More recently, William Brand and Annet Van Egmond released their first book. It gave insight into their methods, and their passions and inspirations for the artistic vision of Brand Van Egmond. It was released in Amsterdam, New York and Milan to celebrate Brand Van Egmond’s 20th anniversary celebration.
