Buyer's Guide: How to select the perfect size chandelier
Chandeliers are beautiful lighting fixtures that add sophistication and glamour to any home. They also come in a variety of colors and styles, so there is plenty to choose from. They hang in houses of the rich-and-famous and royal families. That is why, it is no surprise that they are so popular. Chandeliers can also hang virtually anywhere from your bathroom (yes, your bathroom) to the foyer to your kitchen. After you've made the decision that you want to purchase this fixture, it's important to decide what size you want it to be. Determining this depends on what room you are hanging the chandelier in. However, regardless of where it goes, there are important tips that should be taken into account. First, add the length and width measurements of the room together. For example, say your dining room is 15 feet in length and 13 feet in width. Adding those numbers together will give you 23, which means a 23-inch chandelier would be the perfect size. Although large modern chandeliers are beautiful and certainly impressive looking, they can overwhelm a room if they are too big. But, things change somewhat if you have furniture like a dining room table over which the chandelier is being installed. Lighting experts and well-known interior decorators say that a good rule to keep in mind is that your chandelier should equal approximately one-half to three-quarters the width of your table. However, this number may need to be adjusted depending on your preferences. Keep in mind, these tips are only suggestions. The beauty about hanging fixtures in your home is that you can install them at whatever height you please!
