LED lights

Their efficiency is not affected by its shape and size (very small in size) as is the case with fluorescent light bulbs or tubes. They do not require any color filters to emit light of an intended color as traditional lighting methods need very often. Time taken to switch ON/OFF is as less as a microsecond. They can be dimmed very easily by lowering the forward current or with the help of pulse-width modulation. Constant usage for a long period of time results in dimming of the light first and then getting failed. They do not fail abruptly like an incandescent bulb.

To maintain a LED light you require an adequate heat sink in a constant state to make its life long as overheating will result in burning out. It greatly depends upon the operating temperature of the ambiance where it is installed. They are sensitive to voltage fluctuation and to maintain its life you require series resistors or current-regulated power supplies. They require voltage above the threshold with a current flow below the rating.

The strengthening feature of LED lighting is that it reduces power consumption and can be used for green house effect lighting or nursery or for aquariums as they produce less heat and ideal for plants to survive in normal temperature in comparison to the incandescent light bulbs which produce lots of heat. LED are made up of solid state components, hence cannot be damaged with external shock, unlike fluorescent and incandescent bulbs, which are fragile from exterior.On more real terms cost saving can be calculated with the simple means when compared with incandescent light bulbs as they burn out within a year and require replacement, whereas LED light bulbs can be used easily for a decade without the fear of burning out. High cost of LED bulbs can be one of the main reasons for people not opting for them in the first instance, as the common crowd is not aware of its advantages completely. LED lights are used in areas as diverse as aviation lighting, automotive lighting, advertising, general lighting, and traffic signals.
