Founded in 1962, Leucos resulted from a masterful merge of rising design enthusiasm in the 1960s and the most refined traditions of handcrafted Murano glass. An artistic combination of Old World glass techniques and modern engineering, Leucos has become a renowned leader of contemporary glass lighting designs.
Leucos was recently purchased by Firmedivetro - Italia.
The buyout of LEUCOS means for FdV • Firme di Vetro an increase of turnover in the north American countries, thanks to the strategic commercial power that Leucos already achieved in USA, where the company obtained more than half of its turnover in 2007. Coherently with the strategy of FDV, begun in 2007 with the buyout of Luxit, Leucos is going to maintain its autonomy and corporate identity, built in 46 years of activity, to enhance the technical heritage and the great cultural significance which have been characterising the company since always. Today FdV • Firme di Vetro is a consolidated commercial institution, which acts in the lighting market with six brands, associated by a strong and constant attention to the quality of product, obtained by a precise research and the continual innovation of design and technology. The group FdV • Firme di Vetro, whose turnover in 2007 was nearly 40 million euro, and employs more than 150 people, could bring an extraordinary growth in the last five years, thanks to the strategic unification of the brands: a winning scheme, which makes the Group one of the leaders of the made in Italy.
Leucos has progressed alongside the evolution of design, exploring new techniques of glass manufacturing and developing “light” through constant engineering innovations.
With its artistic philosophy focused on the value of design, the company’s offerings continue to mature, emphasized by collaborations with renowned international designers.

Today, Leucos presents a versatile and sophisticated line of specialty products, including recessed, pendant, wall, table and floor lamps. With extensive European distribution, Leucos boasts an impressive sales network throughout Italy and Germany. The company’s significant presence in the United States, a prestigious market for design disciplines, is focused on its North American headquarters and distribution center.
Leucos USA is strategically located in Edison, NJ just south of New York City, where its 30,000 sq ft facility, stocks and quickly ships UL listed products throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. Leucos serves all three markets with a network of sales representatives & dealers.
Leucos’ well-deserved prominence as America’s most influential Italian lighting manufacturer is confirmed by its many acknowledgements, including the “Best Booth Award” at Light Fair 2002, “Best of Category Award” at Light Fair 2003, “Good Design Awards” in 2003 and 2004 from The Chicago Athenaeum, and a “Best Booth Award” and “Award of Excellence” at HD Expo 2005.
